Hellmann Partners with Talay Logistics for Sustainable Transport between Türkiye and Europe

News,  Sustainability

At Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, sustainability is not just a buzzword; it’s a critical component of our business strategy. That’s why we are proud to announce our partnership with Talay Logistics, a collaboration that will redefine eco-friendly supply chains between Türkiye and Europe. This partnership is more than a business agreement; it is a strategic alignment aimed at revolutionizing the way goods are transported across continents, with sustainability at the core.

Talay Logistics, a leader in Türkiye's intermodal transport sector, handles approximately 70,000 shipments annually through a combined traffic system that leverages the port of Trieste. From Turkish ports, goods are transported via RoRo (Roll On – Roll Off) vessels to Trieste, where they are then transferred to block trains destined for key European hubs like Wels in Austria, and Duisburg, Cologne, and Munich in Germany. This approach not only enhances efficiency but also contributes significantly to environmental sustainability, saving an estimated 2,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year.

“For Talay Logistics, this partnership with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is a natural progression. Hellmann, with its more than 150 year experience in logistics, is the right partner for us,"  says Onur Talay, Founder and CEO of Talay Logistics.

The synergy between our two companies is rooted in a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability, ensuring we deliver real benefits to our customers across Europe and Türkiye.

The first tangible result of this partnership is the establishment of two container depots at the Hellmann logistics centers in Osnabrück and Augsburg. These depots will serve as critical hubs for cargo consolidation, allowing for faster and more efficient transport across Europe. With our extensive road freight network, cargo can be consolidated within 24-48 hours, enabling transit times of approximately 12 days between major European cities and Türkiye, whether for full truckloads (FTL), less than truckloads (LTL), or groupage services.

Our partnership with Talay is not just about improving speed and efficiency; it’s about helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals. By offering reliable intermodal transportation solutions, we provide a viable alternative that reduces CO₂ emissions. Additionally, this approach improves the quality of life for drivers by reducing the need for long-distance driving, making logistics more human-centered.

"This collaboration aligns perfectly with our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals by making logistics work more human-centered and attractive. We’re not only reducing the environmental impact but also improving the quality of life for those who keep our supply chains moving," says Chen Si Hellmann, Head of Rail Solution International at Hellmann.

As the logistics industry continues to evolve, partnerships like ours with Talay Logistics are critical to shaping a more sustainable future. Together, through innovation, collaboration, and a shared commitment to reducing environmental impact, we are not just moving goods—we are driving meaningful change.
